Emma Geneva Huish Haymore, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, passed away from natural causes Friday, March 1, 1991, in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the home of a daughter. She was 97 years of age.

Born February 5, 1894, Spring Lake, Utah, daughter of Lorenzo Snow and Annie Eliza Broadbent Huish. Married David Franklin (Lynn) Haymore, April 6, 1917; he preceded her in death. They were the parents of nine children: Franklin Lant Haymore, Tucson, Arizona; David Leonard Haymore, Douglas, Arizona; Mabel H. Todd, Salt Lake City; Annie Elaine H. Watkins, Logan; Laverna H. Clawson, Salt Lake City; Donna H. Taylor, currently serving with her husband in the Lansing, Michigan Mission; Marylynn H. Pace, Salt Lake City; Charles Lavell Haymore, Sierra Vista, Arizona; Alonzo Larry Haymore, who preceded her in death.

As a young girl Emma traveled with her parents to Colonia Morelos, Sonora, Mexico, where she resided until the time of the exodus from the Mormon colonies caused by the Mexican Revolution. Her family crossed the border and settled in Douglas, Arizona. All their children were born in Douglas, except a daughter, Elaine, who was born while they lived for a short time in Nacozari, Mexico. Emma was a long time church worker having served in many callings. Teaching was her first love and she taught in all the organizations of the church. She presided with her husband over the Spanish-American Mission with headquarters in El Paso, Texas, 1940-43. The family bought a home in Tucson to provide college educations for the children, maintaining their home in Douglas as they continued to operate the Haymore Mercantile there. She was an accomplished poet and writer, having published three books and countless articles. Upon retirement, Emma and David H. served as temple workers in the Mesa Temple for 16 years. After her husband's death in 1968 Emma moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, to be with her daughters. She was active in the Butler 3rd, Holladay 5th and Nibley Park Wards of the church.

She is survived by eight of her nine children; 81 grandchildren; 196 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; four sisters and one brother, Ruby H. Baird, Ruth H. Beecroft, Edna H. Hilton, Helena H. Evans and David M. Huish, all living in Utah.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 2, 1991, 2 p.m. in the Nibley Park Ward Chapel, 2450 South 6th East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Funeral under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Monday, March 4, 1991, at 1 p.m., at the Mesa City Cemetery, Mesa, Arizona.
