Retired Navy Commander Harold Lorenz Haworth, 58, a native of Saint Joseph, Illinois and a resident of Alexandria, Virginia, died suddenly in Lisbon, Portugal. Commander Haworth had been on a three-week tour of Europe with his daughter. He was recently a resident engineer in charge of construction of the Smithsonian Institution's Museum of Science and Technology. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in civil engineering. He was commissioned in the Army Reserves and worked for the Army Corps of Engineers before World War II. After transferring to the Navy Reserves he was called to active duty in 1940. He retired from the Navy in 1959. Survivors include two sons, a daughter, a brother, a sister, a niece, a cousin, and an aunt. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
