CURLLSVILLE - Funeral services were held Tuesday for Clare V. Curll, 85, from the Hawk Funeral Home in Sligo.
Rev. James W. Cummings III officiated and interment was in the Licking Cemetery at Curllsville.
Mr. Curll died early Sunday, April 3, 1966, at the Brookville Hospital.
Born in Curllsville August 8, 1880, he was a son of David R. and Awilda E. Kifer Curll.
He was married December 21, 1904 to the former Maude McCurdy, who survives. The couple had observed their 60th wedding anniversary.
Mr. Curll was a member of Licking Presbyterian Church. Also, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Clarion. Mr. Curll was one of the first International Harvester farm machinery dealers in Clarion County and 1916 owned the first farm tractor in Clarion County. As one of the original organizers and directors of the Clarion County Soil Convervation District, he was awarded a plaque for distinguished service as a director from 1939 to 1951. Mr. Curll was active in civic affairs for many years in the Curllsville community.
Surviving, in addition to his widow, are three sons, Vanlier C. Curll of Clarion, David Reid Curll of Rimersburg RD1 and Todd L. Curll of Curllsville; a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Myrtle) Summerville of New Bethlehem RD; 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Two sons, J. M. Curll and Dean W. Curll, are deceased.
