Jeremiah Prather "Prater" Sims was the 9th child of Hiram Sims Sr (also buried at this cemetery). Alfred Vardaman, JPs grandson verfied the gravesite's location to me back in 1980 during my visit to the area.

The name Prater was probably the family name of Prather that was also local to the area. JP Moved from Laurens County South Carolina to Clay and Chambers Counties in Alabama somewhere around 1835-36. Most of the boys of Hiram married wives in and around Henry County, Georgia. The last child of Hiram, Elizabeth was also born in Henry County, Georgia helping confirm the date after which they migrated into Alabama. Sibblings of JP were copied by Alfred Vardaman from the Sims family bible with Hiram having the following children:
