Maxine Deree Compton, 74, of Fredericksburg, Texas, died August 25, 1996. She was born January 1, 1922, to Jeff Bobo and Winnie Zumwalt, in Lipan, Texas. She married Joe Compton on October 6, 1947. She was a housewife, a Baptist, a Fredericksburg resident for six years, and an Austin resident for 17 years. She was raised by her Uncle Hal and Aunt Matie Huffstutler.

Survivors include husband, Joe Compton of Fredericksburg; daughter, Suzanne Lansford of Liberty Hill, Texas; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Barbara Compton of Pflugerville, and David and Katherine Compton of Lockhart; brother and sister-in-law, Juane and Margaret Bobo of Houston; seven grandchildren, Atesha, Lindsay, Christopher and Jennifer Compton, William Lansford and Sara and Micah Key.

Graveside funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Cemetery, Lipan, with the Reverend Johnnie Campbell officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Arthritis Foundation, or to a charity of choice.
