Mrs. Mary Sutterfield and Mr. Frank Paxton received news here this week of the death of their uncle, Mr. Gabriel B. Paxton, of Abilene, Texas. Mr. Paxton was 86 years of age.
Mr. Paxton will be remembered by many Harrodsburg people as having made a very enjoyable visit here with his relatives in 1929. He was born near here in Anderson county in 1844. For some time he engaged in the mercantile business in Missouri, and later the newspaper business in that state.
He was one of the pioneer industrialists of Texas, going there from Missouri, and aided in developing some of the leading business enterprises of that state. He was an outstanding citizen in all his activities.
