Irene Nance Howard, 78, of Tucson, Ariz., died Friday, Aug. 11, 2006, at Tucson Medical Center Hospice Unit. The funeral will begin at 4 p.m. today at New Jerusalem United Church of Christ, led by the Rev. Butch Conrad. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Howard was born April 25, 1928, in Lexington to Edward E. and Anna Swing Nance. She had a very active life, a great sense of humor and always an inquisitive mind. She loved art, hummingbirds and bright colors and had a flair for the dramatics in life. She loved being all gussied up from head to toe, sparkling jewels, cheeks rouged, lipstick and nails glistening, and with her dazzling smile and eyes sparkling she charmed everyone. She was a very artistic and creative woman and had many occupations, from homemaker to restaurant owner, nurse and real estate agent, and loved to travel, always eager for something new and exciting. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Charley M. Howard, on Feb. 21, 2006; a son, Daniel F. Pearson; a granddaughter, Jamie Rochelle Pearson; and a grandson, Venus Marshall Walser.
