James Monroe Dye, known as Monie, was the son of William Dye, b. OH and Mary Haywood (Kay) Dye, b. NY. He came to CA with his family about 1872 via train. He married Lizzie Wilhelmina Johnson, daughter of Thomas Johnson and Ellen Caesar on 1 Feb 1894 in Traver, CA. She was born in Ontario, Canada on 25 Jan 1872. This couple had four children: Winnie Pearl Dye, Renee Gertrude Dye, and twin sons Melvin Johnson Dye and Merle Talmadge Dye. Wife Lizze was killed in a runaway wagon accident in Sep 1901 at age 29. James was a rancher and lived in East Lynne and Farmersville Precincts near Visalia.
