Julius P. Jungk, 91, of Ennoble Manor Care Center, formerly of 855 Clarke Drive, died at 7 a.m. Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Ennoble Manor.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 7:30 p.m.
Mr. Jungk was the first man hired at the former Dubuque Packing Co. and worked there for 42 years until his retirement.
He was born on Feb. 24, 1910, in Dubuque, son of Carl and Josephine (Schmitt) Jungk. He married Margaret Zuber on June 16, 1932, in Galena, Ill.; she died Feb. 6, 2000.
He served in the Calvary with the Army from 1925 to 1928. He was an active member of St. Patrick's Parish and Holy Name Society. He served as an usher for many years. He was an avid Cubs fan, bowler and golfer.
Surviving are a son, James R. (Betty) Jungk, of Dubuque; a daughter-in-law, Norma Glynn, of Dubuque; four grandchildren, Patrick Glynn, Susan Erickson, Michael (Laura) Glynn and Linda (Buck) Farni, all of Dubuque; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marion Feller, of Dubuque.
He also was preceded in death by a son, George Glynn, on Oct. 20, 1992; two sisters, Florence Jungk and Lucille Kuehn; and four brothers, Clarence, Arthur, Walter and James Jungk.
A Julius P. Jungk Memorial Fund has been established. The family requests no flowers.
