Netherlands, on the 28th day of October, 1867. At an early age he came to the United States with his parents who located in Minnesota. A year later they moved to a farm near LeMars where they lived five years when they moved to a farm near Hospers. In 1901 he went to Minnesota and engaged in farming near Leota, where he remained five years, then he returned to Hospers and on February 13, 1907, was married to Miss Katie DeVries.
