Herman was a veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific. He loved fishing, camping and music; he was a member of numerous dance bands, a few of which were Don Erwin NBC Orchestra, Neva's Band and the Reg Burchinal Band. In their early years they toured many of the western states. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He is survived by his wife, Neva, children, Joan Parthesius of Babylon, New York; George (Pat) Bingham of Vernal; Carolyn (Mike) Czech of Kaysville; Emma Jean Koziol of Vernal; Alan (Naon) Hemstreet of Grand Berry, Texas; Dennis (Evelyn) Hemstreet of St. Roberts, Missouri; Peggy (Dennis) Paulson of Vernal; 30 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Brothers and sisters, Earl (Viola) Bingham of Olympia, Washington; Myma Farley of Roy; Melba Christensen of Provo; Lyell Bingham of Richland, Washington and Marie Thompson of Pleasanton, California.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Janaury 10 at 11 a.m. at Thomson Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. Friends may call at the mortuary one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery with military honors, under the direction of Thomson-Blackburn.
