DEATH VICTIM
Funeral services for Raymond A. Helton, 64, of 440 Ninth Street, SW, Hickory, will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Community Baptist Church.
The Rev. Gordon Taylor will officiate and interment will follow in the St. Stephens Lutheran (ULCA)church cemetery.
Mr. Helton died at 10:30 p.m. Monday in a Hickory hospital. He had been in declining health for nine years.
A son of the late Abel and Catherine Cline Helton, he was born on May 27, 1894 in Catawba County. He was married to the former Miss Mary Harrison who survives. Mr. Helton was a member of the Community Baptist Church and was employed by G & H Hosiery Mill.
5 DAUGHTERS SURVIVE
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Mrs. J. C. Davis, Mrs. Jimmy Poovey, and Mrs. Virl Rowe, all of Hickory, and Barbara Ann and Martha Helton of the home; five sons, Charles and Clyde F. Helton of Hickory, James Howard of the U.S. Navy at Key West, Fla., and Gary and Carroll of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Pinkney Sigmon of Hickory and Mrs. Oscar Sigmon, Sr., of Hickory; a brother, Charlie Helton of Hickory; 19 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The body was taken to the residence from Hickory Funeral Home at 4 p.m. today and will lie in state for thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour.
