Mr. Joseph Claude Rostrom, born in Old Calcasiu Parish, Louisiana, on December 27, 1898, to a pioneer family, William and Annie Rostrom, died December 21, 1979, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 80 years. Retired Oil Scout for Humble Oil & Refining Company after 40 years of service. Member of Kinder Louisiana Masonic Lodge No. 291 since 1922. Member, American Rice, Inc. Lifetime member of National Oil Scouts Association. West University resident 42 years.
Survivors: wife, Mrs. Marie Seydler Rostrom of Houston; daughter, Mary Ann Rostrom of Austin; son and daughter-in-law, William C. and Lunes Huebner Rostrom; sister, Mrs. Furnn R. Dezendorf and brother, Fred A. Rostrom both of Kinder; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM Sunday, at Settegast-Kopf Chapel. Burial followed in the Woodmen of the World Cemetery in Rosenberg, Texas, under the auspices of the Masonic Lodge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Masonic Orphans Home, 5800 Masonic Drive, Alexandria, Louisiana.
