She was born Oct. 15, 1921 in Hickory, Okla. to James Henry and Christina Whetstone. She grew up in Hickory and attended Horse Shoe Ranch through the 8th grade. On Nov. 16, 1940 she married John D. Prewett in Sulphur. She worked as a clerk in several department stores, including Newton Walls & TG&Y of Tecumseh. She also worked at Horse Shoe Ranch.
She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church. As a child she picked cotton and cherished riding in the wagon with her father to town and getting ice cream. She enjoyed living on the farm, gardening, sewing, and outdoor activities. Clorine was active with Bluebirds and Campfire Girls. She loved giving to others, singing hymns, and picking pecans with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 23, 1993; a son, William Fred Prewett; her parents; three brothers; and four sisters. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Barbarann Kathlene and Woody Wood of Shawnee, Cheryl Buoy of Meeker; two sons and daughters-in-law, Toney and Deloris Prewett of Tecumseh, David and Carla Prewett of Tecumseh; sister, Bessie Wainscott of Oklahoma City; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren; and many loving friends and other relatives.
Service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28, at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Clarence "Sonny" Hagler officiating.
