Bessie J. (Whetstone) Wainscott, age 90, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away February 5, 2016. She was born August 15, 1925, in Hickory, Oklahoma to James Henry and Christena N. (Johnston) Whetstone.

Bessie married Ray Randoulph Wainscott on April 13 1946. Bessie loved raising her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Bessie was a devoted follower of Christ and enjoyed watching televangelists. She was a great cook and enjoyed cooking and she opened her doors to anyone in need. Bessie enjoyed watching her soap operas, “General Hospital,” “All My Children,” “One Life to Live,” and “The Edge of Night,” and she also enjoyed watching “Hee Haw.”

She is survived by 5 children, David E. Wainscott, Bernice Wainscott-Birkenfeld, Raymond Wainscott, Frank Wainscott, Dorothy Gros & husband, Dennis II; 8 grandchildren, Jeffery Montgomery, Charice Wainscott-Swope, David Ray Wainscott, Jesse Montgomery, Michelle Wainscott, Joshua A. Wainscott & wife, Sabrina, Christopher Shriver & fiancée, Jennie McAffrey, and Dennis Gros III; 9 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Dante, Clay, Summer Rain, Shylynn, Sierra, Nicholas, Josh Jr., and Kelsey. Bessie is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Randoulph Wainscott; her parents, Henry and Christena Whetstone; 1 grandchild, Nathaniel Ray Wainscott; 3 brothers; and 5 sisters.

Funeral Services for Bessie will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 10, 2016, in the chapel of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home, located at 120 South Broadway, in Moore, Oklahoma, with Pastor Doug Brewer officiating. Interment will be held at 2:00 PM, at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, in Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home.
