Lenora Elizabeth, or "Nora" as William called her, met him when he came home with a neighbor Confederate soldier for a visit before returning home to Texas. He never returned to his home after he met Lenora. They married 19 January 1868 in Weakley Co., TN. and made their home in Lynnville, KY all their married life. It was the old Howard homeplace where they raised the following 14 children--7 boys and 7 girls. Since the older children had already married and left home before the younger ones were born, the children were all together only one time in their lives for a reunion.

Here she could be closer to three of her daughters, Luna Kelso, Ruby Eaker, and Elizabeth Davy Murdock who married Thomas Kimbrough Murdock. She would also be close to two of her sons and their families who had farms nearby. This homeplace is now owned by the 6th generation of Murdocks descended through Tom and Elizabeth Murdock.
