Mrs. Hazel Marie Crawford Tatum, 87, died Sunday (February 15, 2015) at the Baptist Village Retirement Communities following an extended illness.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. She was a graduate of Manor High School and a member of Sweat Memorial Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Ware County Homemakers Club for 61 years and a lifetime member of Emerson Park PTA.

Mrs. Tatum was a daughter of the late Leonard Toomer Crawford and Alma Thrift Crawford. She was married to the late James Hamilton "Hamp" Tatum and preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Misener (late husband Al); and a brother, Hilton Crawford.

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Dickson (husband Larry), Janice Brown (husband Jerry), and Marva Tatum all of Waycross; two sons, Lawrence Tatum, Sr. (wife Annette) and Chris Tatum (wife Jennifer) both of Waycross; 11 grandchildren, Shawn Smoak, Craig Smoak, Hamp Tatum, John Dyal, Butch Misener, Bob Dyal, Dalton Tatum, Simone Croft, Kelly Murray, Chrissa Johns, and Jenna Tatum; 18 great grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren, David Dickson, Larry Dickson, Jimmy Dickson, Kenny Dickson, Jeffrey Dickson, Jonathan Brown, and Joshua Brown; five sisters, Laverne Herrin of Waycross, Faye Butler of Waycross, Brenda Henderson of Jesup, Betty Carol Robbins of Waycross, and Lynne Burns of Jesup; three brothers, Boyce Crawford, Benny Crawford, and Keith Crawford all of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (February 18, 2015) at Sweat Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Kettle Creek Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Tuesday evening at the church from 6 until 8 o'clock.

Members of the R.T. Lee Sunday School Class as asked to meet at the church on Wednesday by 10:40a.m. to serve as honorary pallbearers.
