WILLIAM R. HOLLENBACK
William R. Hollenback, 67, Bunker Hill, died suddenly at his home about 10:25 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, 1988.
He retired in 1983 after 10 years in the Maconaquah School Corporation as a custodian. Earlier, for many years, he worked for the Johnson Grain Co. in Bunker Hill.
He was born Jan. 5, 1921, to Oscar and Grace Howard Hollenback. On July 3, 1975, in Bunker HIll, he married Shirley Koreva Christopher. She survives.
Also surviving are two brothers, Glenn of Rt. 2, Sharpsville, and Richard "Butch" Hollenback of Peru; and two sisters, Jean Payton and Marjorie Dean Stewart, both of Tipton.
He was a member of the Army during World War II. He was a member of Glen Owens Post of the American Legion in Peru, a charter member and a past commander of the James Reece Post 1122 of the VFW in Bunker Hill, and was past commander of the district VFW post.
He was also a member of AMVETS and the military Order of the Cootie of Indiana.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Allen Funeral Home in Bunker Hill, with the Rev. Michael Saddler presiding. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Bunker Hill. A military graveside rite will be observed.
