Final Rites in Leota for M. A. Ellsworth
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 15, 1963 in the Avalon Ward Chapel for Mrs. Matilda Ann Ellsworth, 88, who died in a Salt Lake hospital after a long
illness.
Rex Winder offered the prayer at the mortuary and Albert Barney, a grandson, gave the invocation at the services.
Bishop Calvin Jorgensen and Harmon S. Sowards spoke to the congregation.
Musical numbers were "That Wonderful Mother of Mine" sung by Glade and Elizabeth Sowards and accompanied by Mabel Stagg. "Beautiful Home", sung by a quartet composed of Betty Jensen, Lula Dudley, Calvin Jorgensen and Herbert Harris, accompanied by Eugenia Pickup.
The benediction was offered by Marriner McMullin and the pallbearers were Richard Jackson, Clyde Ellsworth, Merlin Ellsworth, Alex Barney, Ervin Jorgensen and Larid Perry.
Oliver Jorgensen dedicated the grave and burial was in the Leota Cemetery.
Mrs. Ellsworth was born April 6, 1875, in Franklin, Idaho, to John and Mary Jane Alder Goaslind. She married William Philo Ellsworth November 4, 1893. He died
3 March, 1939.
She was an active member of the LDS Church.
Survivors include six daughters: Mrs. Alene Swett and Mrs. Edna Barney, Vernal,
Utah; Mrs. Florine Barney, Leota, Utah; Mrs. Nan Jackson, Payson, Utah; Mrs. Mary Spack, Detroit, Michigan; and Mrs. Frances Perry, Dragerton, Utah. There are four sons surviving, Lester Ellsworth, Vernal, Utah; Milton D. Ellsworth, Leota, Utah; John Ellsworth, Clearfield, Utah; and William H. Ellsworth, Kearns, Utah.
Also surviving are 51 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
