Our community was shocked Saturday February 1, by the sudden death of Andy Duderstadt, aged 18 years and seven weeks. His death was due to heart failure. He had not been well for sometime, but went to Gonzales through the terrible weather of last Wednesday on horse back, attended only by his brother, John Duderstadt, Jr., and was taken worse on the return trip Friday and reached home in a dying condition, surviving only until today, though all medical skill and loving friends could do was done to save the little fellow. His death was apparently painless 'just tired' he said. Oh yes; poor child, so tired that when the blue eyes closed so wearily they opened only in a land where the "weary are at rest." Small of his age, timid and shy of disposition, Andy was still an innocent child, a favorite with all who knew him, a bright, promising boy, stricken down ere his happy feet had turned into manhood's happy rougher paths. He was the fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. John Duderstadt, one of our most prominent citizens, and besides mother and father a large circle of brothers and sisters are left broken hearted by his sudden, untimely death while a host of sorrowing friends and schoolmates followed to the grave and wept as they looked for the last time upon the handsome boyish face so dear to all. The short and impressive funeral services were conducted by Rev. Stayton and to the sorrowing family we can but echo his comforting words, "look to the future, and wait to meet your loved one again where there is no death nor parting." It was hard to see him die and the boyish fac and laughing voice are sorely missed but look beyond and trust an all wise God who doeth all things well. Dixie
