MARVIN V. BASSE, 73, of Auburn, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at his residence.
Born July 26, 1936, in Auburn, son of Oscar and Violet (Pletcher) Basse, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War. He married Jocelyn D. (Edelman) Basse on June 3, 1961, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Elkhart; she survives in Auburn.
Marvin was a Bank Executive at Summit Bank in Fort Wayne for 25 years, prior to his retirement in 1993. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana University Alumni and Bankers Administration.
In addition to his wife, surviving are his son and daughter in-law, John W. and Patty Basse of Gwinn, Mich.; daughter, Cynthia L. O'Neill of Staten Island, N.Y.; grandson, John C. and Heather Basse of Gwinn, Mich.; and his great- grandchildren, Marvin and Hailey Basse of Gwinn, Mich. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Ferman Basse.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior at the church. Monsignor John Kuzmic officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Thomas Funeral Home in Garrett, with Vigil service at 4 p.m.
Burial in Cedar Creek Cemetery, Garrett, with military graveside honors by the U.S. Air Force, Garrett American Legion and V.F.W.
