ELKHART — Oscar J. Basse, 55, of 1527 Flake St., died at 11 p.m. Friday in Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born Jan. 11, 1910 in Auburn, Ind. He married Violet M. Pletcher Sept. 4, 1932 in Lansing, Mich.
She survives with two sons, Ferman, of Elkhart, Marvin, of Boston; a step-mother, Mrs. Fern Anderson, of Elkhart; four half sisters, Mrs. Depert Sharkey; Mrs. Raymond Leatherman and Mrs. Harold Vickers. all of Elkhart, and Mrs. Leslie Hardwick, of Osceola; a half-brother, Kenneth Basse, of Huntertown, Ind.; eight grandchildren.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home in Elkhart where services will be held at 10 a. m. Tuesday. Rev. Dr. Wayne Palen, will officiate. The body will be taken to the Alter Star Methodist Church in Auburn, Ind., for services to be held there at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. Donald Klopfenstein, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Chapel Cemetery, Auburn.
He was a member and a steward of the Calvary Methodist Church and of the Tyrian Lodge F.&A.M., the Brotherhood of Railroad Car Men.
He was employed for 23 years as a New York Central car inspector.
