The following obituary was published in the Herald Coaster on Nov. 19, 1989:

"Larry Ross Rude"

Funeral services for Larry Ross Rude, athletic director and coach at Lamar Junior High School, are scheduled 3 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Rude, 51, died Friday. He was a native of Rosenberg, born June 4, 1938, and had been employed by the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District for 24 years. He coached football and track at Lamar Junior High School.

A graduate of Lamar High School and the University of Houston, Rude served as District 1 commissioner of Babe Ruth Baseball and was a member of Circus Builders of America. He was a past member of the Optimist Club and of the Rosenberg Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the pumper team that won first place in competition at the Seattle World's Fair.

The son of Mildred Mae Benton Rude, who died in 1969, and Philip K. Rude, who died in 1974(*), Larry Rude is survived by his wife Kathleeen Lueckemeyer Rude; his mother-in-law, Johnny Mae Lueckemeyer, his father-in-law Harold Lueckemeyer; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Adolph Acker, James Matthys, Gene Tomas, Jimmy Rude, Al Blasek and John Matthys. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Lamar CISD coaching staff.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Garmany and Carden Funeral Home in Rosenberg. * * *
