Funeral Services for Kathleen Lueckemeyer Rude, 72, of Rosenberg, TX, are set for 2:00 PM Sunday, March 10, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1512 Louise Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471, with Pastor Wayne Schueler officiating. Burial will follow in Rosenberg City Cemetery, Avenue D, Rosenberg, TX 77471. Visitation will be 2 - 5:00 PM Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 1201 Fourth Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471.
Kathleen Lueckemeyer Rude died on March 5, 2019 in Rosenberg, Texas at the age of 72 years. Kathleen was born on July 1, 1946 in Brenham, Texas to Harold "Pete" and Johnnie Mae Huseman Lueckemeyer. She was baptized at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in William Penn, Texas on July 28, 1946 by Pastor C.J. Appel. She was confirmed by pastor Arnold Mueller on April 10, 1960 at Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham, Texas.
August 9, 1969 Kathleen was united in marriage to Larry Ross Rude by Pastor Jon Siemsglasz at Grace Lutheran Church. Her husband, Larry, preceded Kathleen in death on November 17, 1989 after 20 years of marriage.
Kathleen spent the majority of her life in education. She attended Central School, Grace Lutheran School, Brenham Elementary School, and graduated from Brenham High School in 1964. She graduated from Blinn Jr. College in 1966 and Sam Houston State University in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science degree. She spent the next 40 years teaching at Jane Long Elementary in Richmond, Texas, where she taught second and third grade. She retired from teaching after 40 years at the same school in June of 2008.
Before her marriage, Kathleen was organist at Grace Lutheran Church for several years where she played for many weddings and funerals. She also taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a member of Lamar Classroom Teachers Association, Texas Retired Teachers Association, Fort Bend Retired Teachers Association, and Trinity Lutheran Church of Rosenberg. She enjoyed teaching, decorating for holidays, playing Bunco, and helping others.
She was preceded in death by her husband Larry Ross Rude, parents Pete and Johnnie Mae Huseman Lueckemeyer, brother Don Lueckemeyer, father and mother-in-law Phillip and Mildred Benton Rude, grandparents John and Hilda Emshoff Huseman and Henry and Ida Schroeder Lueckemeyer, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She is survived by her godchildren, Ross Nutt, Patty Seeker Lam, Benjaman Scott Huseman, Lance Jahnke, Lindsay Kettler Rosenbaum, Hannah Lam, Maegan Rosenbaum, Colt Rosenbaum, and numerous cousins and friends.
Pallbearers: Mark Kettler, James Steinfeld, Rick Seeker, Mark Lam, Ross Nutt, Lance Jahnke, Ben Huseman, Jason Hueske, and Terry Lueckemeyer. Honory Pallbearers: Gloria and Randal Hoppens Randy Steinfeld, Mitch and Pauline Anderson, all of her Godchildren, her Bunco friends, all of her former students and teachers she taught and worked with at Jane Long Elementary School.
