Carrie Louise Mohrlok was the daughter of John C. Mohrlok and Louisa Frey and was born in Sylvan, Washtenaw County, Michigan. She married John Austin Palmer at the age of 19 as his second wife, but was widowed after 15 years of marriage, to raise their child. She took over her husband's insurance business and was able to support herself and son John.
In 1918 she married Robert G. Young and they lived in Detroit until 1966. They died in the 50th year of their marriage.
