Mr. Gilbert was a native of Illinois.
He was the brother of H. S. Gilbert of Oroville and William E. Gilbert of Coalinga; uncle of Clarence G. Porter of Oroville; Carol Ann Gilbert of Biggs; and Ralph E. Gilbert of Coalinga.
