Charlie was the tenth of twelve children born to William Calloway Bennett and Elizabeth Lucinda Elliott Bennett. He married Elmira Blaylock in 1882 and they had seven children. After the death of Elmira, he married her sister Frances "Fannie" Blaylock, and they had four children.

Charlie is my second great grandfather. He may not have a marker.



Obituary dated May 8, 1953: Services were held at New Hope on April 24th for Charlie A. Bennett, 90, who died at the residence of his son, Cleve C. Bennett, near Eskridge on Thursday, April 28. Interment was in the church cemetery with Trweolla Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Bennett was born May 12, 1852 in Montgomery County. He was a member of the New Hope Methodist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Luna Bennett, Moorhead, Mrs. E.C. Campbell, Duck Hill, and Mrs. Clemmie Latham of Winona; three sons, Cleve C. Bennett, Leroy Bennett, of Memphis, and Dell Bennett of Greenville.
