Ira D. Crews, Jr., longtime developer and lumberman, passed away peacefully on July 4, 1999. A native Tulsan, born on June 5, 1924, graduated from Central High School, a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity at O.U., a WWII Airforce veteran, a member of the Rotary Club, the chairman of the Tulsa Housing Authority, a member and past president of the Tulsa Home Builders Association, and active in other community affairs. Mr. Crews was a third generation lumberman, owner of Crews Lumber and Supply. In the 1950's, he became a residential land developer. He was responsible for such prominent subdivisions as West Highlands, Minshall Park, Brookwood, Southern Hills, Walnut Creek, Point South, Thousand Oaks, Philcrest, Oakclaire, Braeswood, Garnett Park, Shadow Mountain and so on. He was known for his conservation of trees and was awarded the Council Oak award. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Marcia B. Crews; his parents, Ira D. and Ruth Crews; and a brother, Robert. He is survived by: his 3 children, Carol, David and Doug; 2 brothers, James and William; 6 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. Service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery.
