Calvin Allen was born on December 14, 1824, in Petersburg, New York, to Barton and Zeruah (Jones) Allen.
He married Bethany Ann Eldred in 1849 and they had seven children; Joanne, Russell, Charles, Mary, Maurice, Mora, and Melissa. Bethany died in 1887.
Calvin married Elizabeth Wayman Robinson in March of 1891.
Calvin died in 1908 in New Albany, PA.

Calvin was one of the five Allen brothers who served in the Civil War (Co K, 188th Regt, NY Volunteers.)
