Marshall A. "Bud" Stinnett, 96, the last surviving child of Columbus Patton and Emma Purkey Stinnett, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 16, 2009. He was a Master Mason for many years. Though he never sought honors, they came to him. He was Grand High Priest for the State of Tennessee. He received the 33rd Degree, K.Y.G.C.H., Royal Order of Scotland, and many others. He was a great fan of Maryville High School Football, having graduated in 1932 and having played football there. For decades he was in attendance for all the home games.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mary Noe Stinnett; daughter, Judy Young; sons, Wayne and Buddy Stinnett. His brothers who preceded him were Link, Charlie, John, Floyd, Bill, Con and infants Carl and Claude. His sisters were Dona Dunlap, Pauline Trent, Lucille Carrigan, Gladys Ruth Hurst, and infant Maude.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda Lane and husband Olin; daughter-in-law, Gail Stinnett of Crossville; granddaughters, Kim Reiordan and husband Bill and Beth Willis; grandsons, Marshall Lane and wife Jennifer of Maryville and Cameron Stinnett and wife Jenifer of Crossville; great granddaughters, Tiffany Willis, Emily Lane, Carlin Reiordan, and Paige Stinnett; great grandsons, Brooklyn Willis, Ray Rice, and Jacob Wayne Stinnett; nieces and nephews.
Marshall Stinnett was an upstanding Christian gentleman who was devoted to his family. He will be greatly missed. His last words to his family were, "Goodnight, Folks. I'll see you in the morning". Indeed, we will see him again in "The Morning".
Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill White officiating. The entombment will follow in Sherwood Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from 11-12:30 p.m. Saturday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville.
