Lydia was ... the [family's] youngest child. ... Lydia spent her childhood in St. Francis where she attended public school and also the parochial school of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. At the age of fourteen she went to catechism classes and was confirmed on May 27, 1923. ... She was interested in the work of her Lutheran church and served the Hope Valley Lutheran congregation many years as their organist.

In the spring of 1927, Lydia graduated from high school with honors. She then attended the Barnes Commercial School in Denver, receiving her certificate in bookkeeping the later part of December, 1930. She was only 21 when she died. [Taken from recollections of her nephew Harold Kamla]
