Bro. G.D. Jones, 85, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Saturday, December 18, 2010, at his residence. He was a member of Iuka Baptist Church, and an U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a recently retired senior's pastor. He served the Lord by ministering and visiting people. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and feeding his birds.

He is survived by 1 son – David Jones (Cyndy) of Iuka, MS; 1 daughter –Debbie Kirk of Iuka, MS; 3 brothers – D.W. Jones, Jr. (Virginia) of Cairo, MS; Paul Jones (Lorene) of Memphis, TN; and Denoir Jones (Betty Sue) of Kennesaw, GA; 3 sisters – Margie Whitehead of Coldwater, MS; Gwendolyn "Tootsie" Wingo of Hernando, MS; and Imogene Lassiter (Burl) of Memphis, TN; 4 grandchildren – Dena Pike (Rick), Aimee Daniel (Bubba), Davy Jones, and Kristen Jones; and 3 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Jones; his parents, Rev. D.W. Jones, Sr. and Rhoda Jones; his son, Danny Wayne Jones; his grandson, Brian Wayne Jones; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Visitation is scheduled for 4 until 8 PM on Sunday, December 19 at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM on Monday, December 20, 2010 at Iuka Baptist Church. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to service time and will be officiated by Rev. Dr. Ronnie Hatfield and Rev. Bobby Cobb. Interment will follow in Eastport Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Eastport Cemetery Fund, the Iuka Baptist Church Fund, or Gideons International.
