Born in Templeton, PA he was the son of the late David J. and Blanche Spicher Barrett. A decorated veteran of the US Air Force serving in WW II and the Korean Conflict, David was a member of the Thurmont AMVETS Post 7, the Thurmont
American Legion Post 168 and the Emmitsburg VFW Post 6658.
He was a refrigeration engineer for twenty five years retiring from Kraft Foods and prior to that worked for Sealtest Dairy.
He joined the Elks club while in California and was a member of the Blue Ridge Summit Sportsman's Club. An avid Baltimore Orioles fan, he loved music, but mostly enjoyed the time spent with his loving grandchildren. He was loved by his family and friends and will be missed by all that knew him.
Survivors include two daughters; Victoria Williamson and husband Timothy of Jamestown, OH and Janet Campbell of Thurmont; a son, Garry Barrett and wife Ashley of Wimberly, TX; seven grandchildren, Rhiannon, Andrew, Daniel,
Katherine, Gregory, Mark and Christina; nine great grandchildren, Sarah, Michael, Katy, Jordan, Ryan, Tyler, Lexi, Sam and Elizabeth; also he is survived by one sister,Vivian. He will be fondly remembered by Beverly Pierce Collins and very special friend Richard Little. David was also preceded in death by five sisters, six brothers and his son-in-law James Campbell.
