Mrs. Hessie Griffin, 86, a lifelong resident of Mississippi, died Sunday, June 14 at Houston Community Hospital. Funeral services were Tuesday, June 16 at Memorial Funeral Home in Houston. Burial was in Rhodes Chapel Cemetery, with Brother Howard Hathorn and Brother Terry Stringer officiating.

Mrs. Griffin was the daughter of the late Tom Malone and Mrs. Martha Ann Bean Malone. She was the wife of the late Jim W Griffin. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Nora Wilkins and Mrs. Avis Simmons, both of Houston; one son, James R (Bud) Griffin of Taylorville; 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Billy Ray Hamby, Tommy Hamby, Lean Griffin, Bobby Joe Griffin, Benton Moore, Jr., and Mark Hill.

Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
