Mata Schrader Van Horn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Schrader, was born at their home near Roseville, December 26, 1910, and passed to her eternal rest at the home of her parents near Mason City on October 14, 1933.
When but a child her parents moved to Greene, where Mata attended school until her graduation in 1929. Four years ago she moved with her parents to their farm home near Mason City. On April 25, 1932, she was united in marriage to Louis Van Horn at Mason City, by the Rev. William H. Spence, pastor of the First M.E. church in Mason City.
In March, 1933, she, with her husband located on a farm near Greene. On June 24th last, she entered Park hospital at Mason City, where on June 27th their son, Allen Adolph, was born. From this illness Mrs. Van Horn never rallied, and after spending three weeks in the hospital she was taken to the home of her parents, where everything that love and skill could suggest was done, to save this precious young life--but in vain.
Services were held at the home of her parents on Monday afternoon and the body taken to the Flood Creek Methodist church, where the funeral services were held. The sermon was preached by the Rev. William H. Spence of Mason City, assisted by the Rev. Hilmer, pastor of the Flood Creek church. Burial was in the Flood Creek cemetery.
Her death is mourned by her husband, their infant son, her parents, her sister, Vera, other relatives and many friends.
