Rosabelle Black was Valedictorian of her graduating class at El Reno High School in Canadian County, Oklahoma, where she met her husband and life companion, Lorn Statton. She was named after President Theodore Roosevelt.

Rosie was the thirteenth child of Horace Putman Black and Lula Estella (Hathaway) Black. She and her husband lived in close proximity to their parents' homes in El Reno and were helpful to them in their later years.

Rosie and Lorn are buried at El Reno Cemetery. Nearby are the graves of her sisters, Floy and Pearl, and her brother, Emmitt. In other sections of the same cemetery are the graves of her parents, Horace and Lula Black, her brothers Eber and Lewis Black; her sister Floy's infant granddaughter, Rebba D. Smith; and Rebba's father, Homer Perry Smith.
