Helen was the only child of Alfred Joseph "Fred" Clevette and Victoria "Vic" Musolf. Her father died in a work accident before her birth, and Carl Warn became her step-father when she was 5 years-old. She met her husband, Eugene, while working in the hospital (he was a patient). They were married in 1936 and had three children: Arnold, Clevette, and Suzanne "Susie." Tragically, she and Susie were murdered in their home in December, 1967.

Helen's family remembers her as a warm woman who was, first and foremost, a wonderful mother and spouse. Many of her recipes were passed down to and still are enjoyed by her granchildren and great-granchildren. Helen also was involved with the community, including serving as President of the Duluth Figure Skating Club.
