Laura Ackart Stevens, 71, of Avoca died Tuesday, June 28 at the Atlantic Care Center at Atlantic after a brief illness.

She was born April 25, 1906 at Pembina, North Dakota, the daughter of James and Mary Ward Pritchard. She lived the greater part of her life in the Avoca, Walnut and Atlantic areas. She married Arnold Ackart on August 23, 1923. He died in 1971. On September 4, 1973, she married Willard Stevens who died in 1975. She was affiliated with the United Church of Avoca. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Harold Ackart of Council Bluffs and Levi Ackart of Grundy Center; five daughters, Mrs. Larry (Mary) Boeck of Shelby, Mrs. Gary (Karen) Parker of Atlantic, Mrs. Leland (Dorothy) Mikkelsen of Loveland, Colorado, Mrs. Tom (Betty) Parham of Atlantic and Mrs. Arlene Landon of Des Moines; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Alyc Ackart of Waterloo; two brothers, Ralph Pritchard of Austin, Colo. and Dwight Pritchard of Kansas City, Mo.; 32 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two sons, Francis and James, one sister, one grandchild and one great grandchild.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 1 at 2 p.m. at the United Church of Avoca with the Rev. Robert Houser officiating. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery in Avoca.
