Avoca Woman Dies Suddenly While Visiting at the W. H. Jackson Home
Mrs. Mary Pritchard, 66, died suddenly of a heart attack Tuesday afternoon at the home of W. H. Jackson. Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Friday afternoon, June 23, at the Congregational church with Rev. T. A. Thompson pastor of the Congregational church of Dunlap, Iowa, in charge. Burial will be in the Avoca cemetery.
Miss Mary C. Ward was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Ward, old settlers in this vicinity. She was born at Princeton, Illinois, August 28, 1872. At the age of 12 years her parents moved to a farm east of Avoca where she grew to womanhood and attended the rural schools.
On October 10, 1895 she was united in marriage to James N. Pritchard. They moved to McArthur, No. Dakota, where they lived for several years. Mr. Pritchard preceded her in death in 1916.
For the past several years Mrs. Pritchard had made her home with her sister, Miss Nannie Ward. She became a member of the Congregational church of Avoca as a young lady, and ever sought to live a consistent and helpful christian life.
Surviving are two sons, D. W. Pritchard of Maryville, Kansas, and R. H. Pritchard of Austin, Colorado; one daughter, Mrs. Arnold Ackhart of Avoca and sixteen grandchildren. One daughter, Ada, died in infancey.
