A GOOD WOMAN CALLED BY DEATH
MRS. MATHIAS KASPER, 73 YEARS OLD, DIES SUDDENLY FRIDAY EVENING

Mrs. Mathias Kasper, whose maiden name was Agnes Gartman, passed away suddenly at her home in Guttenberg on Friday evening, May 17, 1929, at the age of 73 years, 7 months and 29 days, the cause of her death being due to heart trouble.

Deceased was born at Villa, Canton Graubendung, Switzerland, on September 18, 1855, where she grew to young womanhood. In the year 1881 she came to the United States, settling at Beardstown, Illinois, where she resided for some time, then coming to Guttenberg, Iowa, to reside, where the remainder of her true christian life was spent. On October 1, 1895, she was married at Guttenberg to Mr. Mathias Kasper, who preceded her in death on November 5, 1925.

Mrs. Kasper was a kind and loving mother and friend, and her greatest pleasure in life at all times was to do acts of kindness for her family and friends, by whom her memories will be forever cherished, and in her death this community loses another of it's long-time highly respected residents and worthy mothers -- a true christian woman in every respect. To know her was to love her.

Her death is deeply mourned by one son, Joseph Kasper, of Guttenberg, and a host of friends, by whom she will be sadly missed.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. A. Dupont at St. Mary's Catholic church in this city on Monday morning. The body was laid to rest in Mt. Olivet cemetery. The funeral was very largely attended by friends and relatives from far and near.

Those from a distance in attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. John Cassenova, of Cassville, Wisconsin; Mrs. Thomas Kohl, of Dubuque; Mrs. LeRoy Schorg, of Waterloo; Mrs. Bertha Gray, of Elkador and Miss Josephine Schneider of Galesville, Wisconsin.
