ANDREW G. BENDER
Andrew G. Bender, of 425 Greene Street, died yesterday in Sacred Heart Hospital, where he had been admitted Monday.
He was born here, a son of the late Jacob and Desnelda (Reinhard) Bender.
Mr. Bender was retired superintendent of the Municipal Water Department. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church; Cumberland Council 586, Knights of Columbus, and Chief Justice Taney Assembly Fourth Degree.
Survivors include his widow, Addie (Swisher) Bender; one daughter, Miss Alice A. Bender, at home; one son, Andrew G. Bender Jr., Fort Worth, Texas; one brother, Alpheus F. Bender, city; one sister, Mrs. Mary McNamee, Sanduskky, Ohio, and two grandchildren.
The body is at the George Funeral Home, where friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in the SS. Peter and Paul's Church, with interment in the parish cemetery. Chief Justice Taney Assembly will serve as honor guard at the funeral. A Christian Wake Service will be conducted at 8 p.m. tomorrow in the funeral home by Cumberland Council 586.
