MRS. CHARPING

Mrs. Silda Balliew Charping, 72, wife of Robert M. Charping of Rt. 6, Greer, Fairview community, died at a local hospital yesterday at 9 p.m. after several years of declining health and a serious illness of three days.

Born July 9, 1895 in upper Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Merideth and Harriett Center* [should read Moon] Balliew. She had lived most of her life in Taylors community before moving to her present address eight years ago.

Mrs. Charping was a member of A.R.P. Church of Greenville.

Surviving also are two daughters, Mrs. Hattie Bell Holcombe of Greenville and Mrs. Frank Loftis (Lila) of Rt. 3, Taylors, three sons, S. Sgt. James E. Charping, U.S.A.F. Clarks Field, Phillipine Islands, S. Sgt. Raymond G. Charping, U.S.A.F. Ankara, Turkey, and Daniel H. Charping of Rt. 6, Greer; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family is at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Frank Loftis, Wynette Way, Rt. 2, Taylors.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Thomas McAfee Funeral Home.
