BODY OF BALLEW FOUND AT HOME
The body of Amon A. Ballew, 73, was found on the living room floor of his Bates Street home at American Spinning yesterday about 3:15 p.m. by his brother-in-law, R.M. Charping of Greer, Sheriff's deputies reported last night.
There was no evidence of foul play, they said. Coroner J.O. Turner ordered the body removed to a local mortuary, where an autopsy was to be conducted later.
Deputies said Mrs. Carolyn Hensley of 22 Wright Street, American Spinning, a neighbor, reported she last saw Mr. Ballew Friday about 6 p.m. working in his garden.
He was a son of the late Mertie and Hattie Moon Ballew and a native of Glassy Mountain Township in upper Greenville County. During his childhood the family came to Greenville and lived in the American Spinning Company community where he had since made his home. He was engaged in textile work.
He attended Morgan Memorial Baptist Church.
Mr. Ballew is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Addie Howard, Buffalo, and Mrs. R.M. Charping, Greer, and a brother, G.W. Ballew of Greenville.
The body is at the Thomas McAfee Funeral Home awaiting the completion of arrangements.

Funeral services for Amon R. Ballew, 73, of 5 Bates Street, American Spinning Co., will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the chapel of the Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. The Rev. C. M. Warren will officiate and interment will be in the Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be J.E. Reynolds, R.G. Charping, J.E. Charping, Fred Poole, J.F. Loftis and Clarence Hamilton.
He was native of the Glassy Mountain section of upper Greenville County. Since early life he had lived in the American Spinning Co. community. His death occurred Friday.
