John was the youngest of eight children born to Richard Ephraim Fenn and Josephine Smith Hill. His father had previously been married to Sarah Jane Lewis and they had five children together, before she died.


When he was 2 1/2 years old his parents divorced. His mother remarried in 1915 to John Henry Thompson and they had four children together, Bernice, Theresa, Burt, and Maxine.


On 5 December 1930, John married Delores Ann Gregory; they had three daughters, Adelma, Colleen, and Bernice. They were divorced by 1936.

He married Virginia Miles on 19 June 1939. They had two daughters, Velma and Lois. They were expecting another child at the time of his death.


His father's parents are from England.

His mother's parents are from Scotland.

FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR JOHN H. FENN

--Funeral services for John Henry Fenn, 34, who died May 30 in the Vernal Hospital following a major operation, were held Sunday, June 2, at 2:00pm in the Roosevelt Ward Chapel.

--Frank Walker conducted the brief rites as follows: prayer at the home, Frank Walker; prelude music, Mrs. R. V. Larsen, invocation, Paul Murphy; chorus "Sometime We'll Understand"; speaker, John E. Wiscombe; vocal solo "In the Garden", Curtis Walton; speakers, James E. Bacon and Frank Walker; chorus "Farewell to thee"; benediction, E. J. Nixon.

--Burial was at the Roosevelt City Cemetery under the direction of the Dillman Mortuary, with Victor Wilkins dedicating the grave. Pallbearers were Mr. Fenn's brothers, Owen, George, and Milton Fenn, and his nephews, Ezra, Norman and Devean Fenn.

--Mr. Fenn was born September 16, 1911, at Vernal, a son of Richard and Josephine Hill Fenn. The family moved to Roosevelt while he was still a youngster, and he received his education in the Roosevelt city schools. He married Ennus Virginia Miles June 19, 1938, at Duchesne and since that time they have made their home in Roosevelt where Mr. Fenn has been employed in building construction.

--Survivors include his widow and two daughters, Velma, age 6, and Lois , age 2, and his parents of Roosevelt [his parents died in 1939 & 1926]; five brothers, Ren [Lorenzo], George and Milton Fenn of Roosevelt; Bert [Albert] Fenn of Helper and Owen Fenn of Salt Lake City; four sisters, Mrs. Elsie McRea of Seattle, Washington, Mrs. Mary Erekson of Provo; Mrs. Delilah [Adelia] Carter of California and Mrs. Thelma Anderton of Roosevelt.
