BENHAM – At his residence, in Newfield, May 1st, Rev. John B. Benham, of Oneida Conference, with Bronchitis and Consumption.

Obituary
Rev. John B. Benham was the son of Isaac Babbitt and Eunice (Baker) Benham. He was the 1st husband of Susan (Hamilton) Benham Coburn. They were married July 1831. Susan died July 9, 1886. Rev. Benham was a minister in the Oneida Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church. In the spring of 1828 he began his work as a missionary to the Indians of Upper Canada - 5 years. In 1845 Rev. Bonham was appointed Superintendent of the Liberia Mission, and with his wife, Susan, sailed November 4, 1845, for his post - 3 years. He died of bronchial pneumonia.
