Obituary: Francis Gerstley, 72, of East Bridgewater
Francis A. Gerstley, 72, husband of Julia A. (Bailey) Gerstley, died Saturday in the Cardinal Cushing General Hospital in Brockton following a period of failing health.
Born in Brockton, the son of Elva W. (Hatch) Gerstley of East Bridgewater and the late Clarence B. Gerstley, he was a lifelong resident of East Bridgewater. He graduated from East Bridgewater High School. For several years, he worked as a time-study engineer at the Fore River Shipyard, he worked for various silver companies in Taunton, retiring in 1981. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a son, Herbert B. Gerstley of Boston; a daughter, Sandra H. Rogers of East Bridgewater, and two grandchildren, Walter Brown and Wanda Brown, both of East Bridgewater. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Douglas E. Wales Funeral Home, 35 Spring St., East Bridgewater, with the Rev. Paul E. Laffer officiating. Interment will follow in Central Cemetery, East Bridgewater.
