Obituary: Herbert B. "Sonny" Gerstley, 50, of Boston formerly of East Bridgewater, died Saturday in Beth Israel Hospital in Boston while awaiting a heart transplant. Born in Brockton, he was the son of Louise (Safford) Trasky of New Jersey and the late Francis Gerstley. He was raised and educated in East Bridgewater and was a graduate of the Class of 1961. He graduated with honors from Bryman Campus National Education Center in Brookline. For 25 years he lived on the North Shore and in the Boston area. For 14 years prior to his retirement he was employed at Honeywell Co., in the Junior Achievement program. He enjoyed collecting antiques. Mr. Gerstley is survived by two sisters Sandra Rogers of East Bridgewater and Carol Maysa of New Jersey, a niece Wanda Cunningham and a nephew Walter Brown. He was grandson of the late Elva Gerstley. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Wales Funeral Home, 35 Spring Street, East Bridgewater. The Rev. Victoria Smith, pastor of the Union Congregational Church in East Bridgewater will officate. Burial will be in Central Cemetery, East Bridgewater.
