Death of a Veteran

Hon. Reuben Shultz, one of the pioneers of Gentry county, and a man who was closely identified with its early history, died at his home in McFall, on the night of the 8th inst., after a lingering illness.

Deceased came to Gentry county in 1850 and has been a resident of the county ever since. He was born in York county, Pennsylvania, May 24th, 1813, where he was reared and educated. He came to Missouri in 1841, locating in Platte county, but afterwards came to Gentry. He was prominent in politics, especially in his younger days, and was identified with the Democratic party. In 1860 he was elected to represent Gentry county in the legislature and served through the regular and also the special session. He was the father of four children, Jno. M., the attorney, and David L., the hardware merchant at McFall, being two of them.
