A Pioneer Passes Away.
Mrs. Sarah A. Shultz died at the home of [ed.] her daughter, Mrs. J. B. Robinson, at Fairport, Mo., February 18, 1909 [ed.], and was buried beside her late husband, in the old Wheeler cemetery, seven miles southwest of McFall, February 20th.
Sarah A. Lockwood was born in Greenup County, Kentucky, March 22, 1828. The family soon after moved to warren county, Indiana, near Williamsport, where they resided until the spring of 1841, when they moved to Daviess county, Mo. Sarah and her elder sister rode almost the entire distance on horseback, and she often spoke of that trip as an enjoyable excursion. In December, 1845, she was married to Reuben C. Shultz, in Daviess county, where they resided until 1850, when they moved to Gentry county, where she resided until 1904, when she went to live with her son, John M. Shultz at Maysville, her husband having died February 8, 1895, at McFall.
She was the mother of six children, five of whom grew to manhood and womanhood. Those surviving are John M. Shultz, of Maysville; Frank P. Shultz, of Rotan, Texas; David L. Shultz, of Calhan, Colorado; and Mrs. John b. Robinson, of Fairport. Her third son, Lewis C. Shultz, died in 1880.
