Mary (Mollie) Emaline Goodgame Abbott was born in Camden, Arkansas on May 15, 1857. Her parents were James Jackson and Martha Jane Mahan Goodgame. Sister of John Thomas Goodgame and Florida Bell Goodgame. When Molly was five years old, her father died in the Civil War, Lewisburg, AR. She was raised by her mother till her death in 1868. Then she and her sister, Florida Bell were raised by her Maternal grandparents. She married Benjamin Franklin Abbott in Franklin, Arkansas on September 8, 1875. They moved to Texas in the late 1870's, first to Florence and then to Wharton, where she lived the rest of her life.
